Hotel Matelote

No ratings yet
Very old and very new

Tucked away in a quiet street and courtyard between the river Scheldt and the Grote Markt, close to everything that is central, Hotel Matelote is a ten-room oasis of ultra sleekness and cool in a 16th century house reinvented by local designer Peter Deelen. Opened in 2007 and privately owned by three Antwerp entrepeneurs, the hotel takes its name – which refers to a certain French fish stew or a sailor's wife – from a former Michelin-starred restaurant previously next door. Great fireplace in the front entrance.
