Cargo Club (formerly/incorporating Red & Blue) Formerly: Red & Blue

Antwerp's most expansive and famous gay dance mecca, Cargo Club (formerly Red & Blue) is known as one of the hot spots of northern Europe. Opened in November 1997 and still under the same ownership, the sizeable one-room mecca has an industrial feel, with name DJs spinning mostly house until 7 in the morning. Every few Saturdays the club takes great pleasure in staging what used to be the only weekly male-only dance party in Belgium, with go-go boys, international guests and occasional erotic shows all part of the package – Antwerp at its most humpy-thrivey. No longer a weekly thing, but still a thing for sure. Students take over the dance floor on Thursdays (the nostalgically named Red & Blue). There are also other events staged under the Red & Blue label. In short, anything with a 'Red & Blue' label signifies a gay/queery-friendly option, while 'Cargo Club' caters more to a straight crowd. Lesbians had their moment on the dance floor with monthly Cafedelove and Cafedeluxe, mournfully no longer happening, albeit with occasional Cafedelove parties [see entry]. Changed name from Red & Blue to Cargo Club in early 2017. Sadly the website is not state-of-the-art informative.
